Overview

The 43 credit-hour web design degree is offered fully online and is designed for students who are interested in the design side of technology. It features coursework in key areas like database design, server-side development, and computer architecture. Students in the web design degree online program also develop valuable skill sets in mobile app development, programming with Java, web app development, and web design.

Outcomes

After completion of web design degree coursework, students will demonstrate the following skills:

  2. Submit official transcripts from the regionally accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 based on a 4.0 scale.
    • If you have attended a MNSCU college or university we also ask that you provide an official accompanying DARS or MnTC goal area worksheet. Concordia accepts completed goal areas
    • If you have less than 20 college credits completed, you will need to submit your official high school transcript as well as any college level courses you have taken.
    • If you have not taken any college level courses and have graduated from high school in the last three years, you will need to submit your official high school transcript as well as your official ACT or SAT scores.

The median annual salary for these occupations was $86,320 in May 2018 – higher than the median annual wage for occupations.

Graduates of the web development degree program are qualified for roles including:

  • Web developers are responsible for designing websites and ensuring that the finished product is both visually appealing and technically sound. They work with clients to create websites that meet the design needs of stakeholders. Other responsibilities include testing applications, writing code, determining layout, and monitoring traffic. Web developers can work on the front-end or back-end of a site, depending on whether they are primarily focused on construction or visuals.
  • User interface designers work as part of a software development team to create a meaningful user interface for site visitors. They may be responsible for creating storyboards, demos, and prototypes of a site before it is live. User interface designers have in-depth knowledge of best practices and use that knowledge to effectively arrange site elements.
  • Network and computer systems administrators oversee the operation of computer networks for organizations of all types. They use their expertise to understand a company’s system needs and install network hardware and software. Administrators are also responsible for maintaining network security, adding and training users, optimizing performance, and solving any network problems that arise.
  • Software developers create computer programs by understanding user needs and creating software to meet them. Some software developers may also design underlying network systems. They conduct testing to ensure programs function correctly, complete maintenance, and collaborate with other team members to design innovative software solutions that improve outcomes for organizations.
