Master of Science in Exercise Science

The Master of Science in Exercise Science is designed to advance the skills and knowledge of current and future exercise science professionals. By utilizing a combination of theoretical inquiry and practical application, students will gain greater insight regarding exercise testing and prescription as they relate to working with diverse populations. Major topics discussed include exercise physiology, exercise testing, applied exercise prescription, biomechanics, nutrition and metabolism as well as psychology of sports and exercise. This program prepares students to become leaders within the exercise science industry.

Program Outcomes

- Students will demonstrate advanced knowledge of exercise principles, strength and conditioning concepts, and nutritional influences on the body’s physiological adaptation to exercise.

- Students will differentiate between the various research methodologies, and their appropriate use within the Exercise Science industry.

- Students will gain the necessary skills to conduct safe exercise testing and create exercise prescriptions for members of diverse populations focused on health, disease prevention, and chronic disease management.

- Students will gain knowledge regarding the preventive and rehabilitative exercises for individuals of diverse populations.

- Students will evaluate the factors influencing physical activity and the methods for health maintenance and prevention of chronic conditions.

-Students will gain greater knowledge regarding the application of psychological approaches to working with individuals in an exercise and sport capacity.

- Students will advance their leadership skills within the Exercise Science industry in areas such as strength and conditioning, coaching, health and wellness, and clinical practice, including rehabilitation.

- Students will develop the ability to synthesize scientific-based learning in current Exercise Science topics and communicate effectively through discussion, written work, and oral presentation.

- Students will be prepared for employment opportunities in the field of Exercise Science in public, private, and corporate settings.

- Students will proactively apply knowledge in a real world setting, integrating ethical standards and appreciation of population diversity.

2. Submit official transcripts from the regionally accredited institution stating the conferral of a Bachelor's degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 based on a 4.0 system.
