3 Time Management Tips That Work

As a community college student you’re probably balancing coursework with other commitments, from work to home life. Life can get hectic, but there are steps you can take to make the most of your study time. From getting organized to getting enough sleep, here are three ways to boost your time management skills.

1. Make a study schedule.

Blocking off time to study is a smart way to make sure your work gets done on time – or even early! When you spend a little time each day on schoolwork, you’re less likely to miss deadlines or let assignments pile up. Make it official and block that time on your calendar, so you know it’s dedicated to schoolwork.

2. Use a checklist.

Whether you prefer a paper or digital format, creating to-do lists can help you organize your assignments without letting anything fall through the cracks. You can set up daily or weekly checklists, whichever works best for you.

3. Plan ahead.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the amount of work you have to do, but knowing what to expect makes things easier. Read over the entire syllabus for each class to get a feel for when projects are due and what the workload is. Then, you can mark important deadlines in your calendar and schedule out work accordingly.

Apply these tips to lower stress levels while creating habits that can help you be a better student, during this semester and beyond. Managing your time effectively is one of the best ways to set yourself up for success.
