Thanks to the demand for nurses in today’s workforce, many corporations are offering nursing student scholarships to those in need. In addition, several scholarships offer special consideration to students returning to earn further education, including RN to B.S. in Nursing programs. These are just a few of the scholarships available, so make sure to keep looking to see if other aid is available to you.
This scholarship awards $10,000 to applicants who are currently enrolled in a nursing program. Developed in partnership between AfterCollege and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), the scholarship is designed to assist students who are seeking to further their nursing career, with special consideration given to students enrolled in an RN to B.S. in Nursing program. There are no ethnicity, gender or residency requirements. The scholarship is given out quarterly; the next 2014 deadline is Dec. 30.
Background check company Certified Background teamed up with AACN to provide $200,000 annually for potential nurses. The scholarship program gives two $5,000 scholarships to nursing school applicants four times a year. Applicants must be enrolled or accepted in a nursing program to be eligible. There isn’t an ethnicity, gender or residency requirement, but students must have maintained at least a 3.2 grade point average in their current program or the last school attended. Scholarships are awarded quarterly; the next deadline is January 31, 2015.
The National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA) is awarding scholarships in the amount of $1,000 to $2,500 to students who are currently enrolled in an accredited nursing school. This scholarship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, financial need and involvement in both nursing student organizations and community activities related to health care. The deadline to enroll in this scholarship is January 16, 2015.
The Oncology Nursing Society offers this scholarship for students currently employed as an oncology nurse. Applicants should be either applying to or enrolled in a B.S. in Nursing program. This scholarship has no ethnicity, gender or residency requirement. Winners are awarded a one-time grant of between $2,500 and $3,000, and the application deadline is June 15.
